Hello, friends! The diary I had planned for today did not come together as easily as I wanted and some unexpected meetings and appointments took up time I would have used to complete it so you get this instead. Hopefully, next week the diary will be ready to go.
I do have a little news. My husband (also a Type 2) has been complaining that he hasn’t been sleeping well. He had been taking all his oral medications and his long acting insulin at bedtime. He refuses to do fingersticks so he has no idea what his glucose level is like at bedtime or when he gets up (or anytime really), however, I told him that his problem may be that his glucose level is going too low while he’s sleeping because disturbed sleep with vivid dreams/nightmares is a symptom of a night time glucose crash. He didn’t really believe me, but I finally convinced him to try taking his insulin in the morning after breakfast instead of with all his other pills at night. It’s been a couple of weeks now and he says he is sleeping much better. He’s still working on getting in the habit of taking his insulin in the morning and he’s tried putting his insulin pen out by his wallet on his night stand when he takes his pills at night and then putting it back in the drawer with his pills after he takes it in the morning so he can tell at a glance if he has taken it already or not. It seems to be working pretty well.
What little tricks do you use to keep track of when you take your medications?
